 Sugar Scoop: Sippin' into Summer 

Hey Sugars! 

A huge shoutout to every Sugar who joined us at one of our Summer Pop-Up Teas! ☀️□ Every conversation is helping grow the Village and we couldn't do it without YOU.

One of our favorite Pop-Up activities has been asking each Sugar to draw herself and write down two goals and two fears. Then we ask one simple question:

Are your daily choices moving you closer to your goals... or closer to your fears?

✨ This Week's Sugar Challenge: Grab a piece of paper and try it yourself!

• Draw yourself.
• Write down 2 goals.
• Write down 2 fears.
• Then ask yourself: What one choice can I make this week that moves me one step closer to my goals?

Next time you're walking around DC... look up. □□

You'd be surprised how much amazing art is hiding in plain sight. Murals are everywhere, and each one has its own story.

SIP 1: My Sugar, McKenzie...

We learn just as much from our Sugars as they learn from us. Meet McKenzie. □ She shared that she's inspired by people who are successful outcasts .

Why?

because it proves to her that there's someone out there like her changing the world while being themselves.

Summer isn't just about making money, it's about building your future.

Whether you're working an SYEP job or just hanging out with friends, make time to learn something new.

What's brewing this week

Happy Fourth of July! □□✨

I hope you're having the BEST summer so far: sleeping in, catching up with your girls, hitting cookouts, and making memories.

So... y'all know I love a random rabbit hole. □ Since it's the Fourth, I looked up why we celebrate it and ended up reading a speech by Frederick Douglass from 1852. One question had everyone thinking:

People will always have opinions, but you don't have to let someone else's words define who you are. Your value isn't determined by likes, followers, or someone else's expectations.

Because every time she unlocks her phone, she's reminded to stay focused on the future she's working toward.

shared a confidence strategy she uses whenever negative thoughts start creeping in.

She replaces negative self-talk with what she calls an "antidote thought."

Instead of thinking, "I'm probably going to mess this up."

Try telling yourself, "I'm prepared, and I'm going to do my best."

The way you speak to yourself shapes the way you see yourself.

Whether you're dreaming about college, an HBCU, beauty school, trade school, the military, starting a business, or something completely unique, it's never too early to start planning your next move.

This week's tip from Auntea Shelly:

☕ Sugar Scoop: Pouring Into You

Have y’all been keeping up with us on Instagram lately?

This week, we shared a quote from Great AunTea Judge Mary Terrell that really made me stop and think:

□ “Water seeks its own level.”

At first, I was confused too □ like… okay AunTea, what are we supposed to do with that?

But then it started to make sense.

Think about the people you spend the most time around.

Are they supportive when you try something new?

Do they clap for you when you win?

Do they push you to make good choices?

Or do they make you feel like you have to shrink yourself just to fit in?

Because the truth is, the people around us really do influence us. Over time, we start picking up their habits, energy, mindset, and even the way they talk about themselves and others.

And sometimes we don’t notice it until we’ve already changed.

That’s why your circle matters so much.

Real friends don’t compete with your growth.

They grow with you.

Your environment can either water your dreams or dry them out.
