Can you believe it is already August? Time indeed flies when you are having fun. The High Tea Society has been busy preparing for our fall programs for the last two months. Her favorite animal is an otter. “Is this thing on?” Taylor is a recent graduate of Howard University, where she majored in art with a concentration in animation and interactive media. She loves art, reading, music, and everything creative. “Do I have to go outside?” Marlee is a rising senior at Jackson Reed High School. She aspires to work in the fashion industry as a stylist or in marketing. Marlee loves anything creative and has a retired love for running. Marlee loves social gatherings and strives to be someone to lean on for her loved ones. She is truly fulfilled by positive energy. “I wouldn’t miss it for the world!” Trevour is nonbinary and autistic. He loves Pokemon, music, and photography. His favorite part of the High Tea Society has been photographing the HTS teacup around Washington, DC. "Learning more about High Tea Society and working with other interns has given me a new perspective on culture and womanhood." Sugar is our favorite dotted teacup. And, second, she has a hat for every occasion. If you guessed, Judge Mary Terrell, you are correct. Judge Terrell founded the High Tea Society (HTS) in 1997 to provide educational and cultural enrichment activities for girls who attend the District of Columbia Public Schools. Twenty seven years later, HTS continues to deliver impactful programs for girls. To that end, in May 2024, we received a grant from Events DC to launch a BigSis digital ethics programs for girls.
